We provide comprehensive and intensive care to patients with stroke, head injury or acquired brain injuries working in a multidisciplinary team: physiatrist, physiotherapist, occupational therapy, speech therapist and neuropsychologist. Our aim is to ensure the continuity of care for the patient with acquired brain injury during the different stages of the rehabilitation process including novel technologies. The Neurological Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Unit (Neurorehabilitation Knowledge Area) has participated together with the Neurovascular Research Laboratory (VHIR), in three research projects funded by the Carlos III Health Institute aimed at finding biomarkers to monitor and predict the recovery of stroke patients after intensive rehabilitation programs (PRI). The aim of this research is to be able to find neuro-repair markers that allow us to individualize rehabilitation therapies and move towards personalized neurorehabilitation medicine.Another of our lines of work includes the validation of novel tecnologies: a virtual reality (VR) system for upper extremity rehabilitation in stroke patients, the Rehabilitation Gaming System (RGS) developed and validated by a European consortium funded by the European Commission through the «ambient assisted living» (AAL) program and the Spanish national project SANAR.From 2021-2024 We were part of an European consortium for the development and validation of an ecosystem with VR and augmented reality for the telerehabilitation of stroke patients. The unit also participates in phase 1 phase 2 multicenter clinical trials.Education and qualifications:Required:
- Phd in Physiotherapy
- Specific/Additional training in Neurorehabilitation, validation of novel technologies, virtual reality and/or telerehabilitation tools.
- Fluency in English (business level)
- Previous experience with the use of exoskeletons for gait training.
Desired:
- Specific/Additional training in Neurorehabilitation Team work.
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish.
Experience and knowledge:Required:
- Experience working in Rehabilitation multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in Multicenter Research projects
Desired:
- Knowledge of Software SPSS.
- Focused on teamwork.
Main responsibilities and duties:Conduct an extended usability study for the validation of a home platform using a virtual an augmented reality for the treatment of balance in post-stroke patients and/or other neurological diseases (PHASE study: PR(AT)309/2024)
- Collaborate with the Neurorehabilitation team: defining the protocols for telerehabilitation for adults with acquired brain injuries, participate in other research projects of the Neurorehabilitation Area of Knowledge relating to Spasticity and other post-stroke and acquired brain injury impairments.
- Participate in a phase I-II multicenter Spasticity clinical trial.
- Prepare documentation for research projects and proposals.
Labour conditions:
- Part-Time 15 hours/week.
- Starting date: February 2025
- Gross annual salary: 9.294,52 euros. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
